This Is The Time!

1 Thessalonians 5:1–11 (CSB):  About the times and the seasons: Brothers and sisters, you do not need anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 When they say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark, for this day to surprise you like a thief. 5 For you are all children of light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. 6 So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.

As members of the body of Christ, we are finding ourselves in a very interesting time. But one thing that I would like to highlight is the fact that Paul tells the Christians of Thessalonica to remain self-controlled, rested, at peace, and build each other up. This is essential if the Church body is going to fulfill its purpose as the people of God. If any of you have been waiting for a time to reach out to others this is probably one of the best opportunities that you may receive in this lifetime.

Those without faith or who may have a weak faith are in an understandably distraught, irrational state of mind. And we can approach them with understanding because we too also lacked faith and hope. We found our meaning in the world because the world was the only reality that truly existed to us, but now we have a living hope through faith in the Son of God who has revealed to us all things in regards to godliness.

So, stay educated on what is going on so that you can properly understand those who are still of the world. And with a proper understanding, you will then be able to reach out more effectively to your fellow church members and those outside of the faith in your own communities. Share God’s love practically in each store you enter, share the gospel with those you reach with God’s love, and even if rejected continue sharing the hope that lies within you. Because the gospel of Christ is the only true hope that will satisfy mankind in both body, mind, and spirit.

Recount how the Church has operated throughout history, in times of war, famine, persecution… the hope of the gospel message was what pushed Christians to reach out and share the Gospel with others. If you have been waiting for the right time to act, THIS IS IT!

God Bless!
